Miss america 2.0
This competition season, we will be following the new Miss America format. What does this mean? The job of Miss Tustin, Miss California, and Miss America remains the same, but the areas of competition judged in order to select our titleholders have changed.
Candidates will compete in Private Interview (20%), Talent (50%), Onstage Question (15%), Evening Gown & Social Impact Initiative (15%). Most notable, the Lifestyle & Fitness in Swimsuit has been eliminated.
The Miss Tustin competition is what the Miss California Organization refers to as a "closed" or "structured" competition. This means that our contestants must live*, work full time, or attend school full time** within a specific boundary. Candidates must be 18 years of age by June 20, 2020.
Our boundary is the cities of Tustin and Irvine and the Tustin and Irvine Unified School Districts. Also eligible are students from UC Irvine on a non-exclusive basis, Concordia, and Saddleback and Irvine Valley Colleges.
*Must show proof of residence dating six months prior to Miss Tustin Competition
**Full time is calculated as 12 credit hours. Contestants competing as full-time students must have completed at least one semester or two quarters prior to the Miss Tustin competition.
There are other eligibility requirements and rules including: Residency, Citizenship, Other Personal Characteristics, Contractual and Other Obligations, and any special requirements of the Local or State Organization.
